Screen Time, spent on purpose

Your apps unlock when you learn.

Hit the limit on the apps you picked. 1Lock seals them until you pass a short quiz in English, Spanish, Mandarin, or Japanese.

Instagram is sealed · 5 cards to open

The quiz

Five cards. Then the app opens.

Words, sentences, and a short reading. Miss one and it comes back once. A free starter pack in each language means the seal can always be opened.

What does this mean?

hola

A starter card, the same kind the seal asks for.

How it works

You decide what gets sealed.

01

Choose the apps

Pick them with Apple’s Screen Time picker. Set a daily limit, and which days it applies.

02

Hit the limit

The app seals. The shield shows a word of the day, and a notification brings you back to the quiz.

03

Pass, and it opens

A pass grants a few more minutes. When those are gone, the seal returns. Tomorrow, the count starts over.

Languages

Four, done properly.

English For anyone learning English. A simple clue, the word, and how it sounds.
Español Starter pack free. Plus adds beginner through advanced, in every language, for a yearly or lifetime purchase.
中文 Simplified characters, with pinyin and tone marks when you want them.
日本語 Kanji, kana, and romaji. Toggle the reading off once you know it.

Hard seal

No pause button. The quiz is the way through. After three misses, it waits a minute, then asks again. The hard seal is part of 1Lock Plus.

Soft seal

Three short pauses a day, then the quiz. Useful when you set this up for yourself and still want an exit.

For a child

A parent PIN keeps the rules locked on the same phone. Linked parent devices come later.

What it cannot do

Someone can turn Screen Time off in Settings, or delete 1Lock. We say that here, not only in a footnote.
